Ippocalyptica
With this first song from the upcoming second chapter of the Suns of Perdition saga, Panzerfaust are emphatically confirming that their 2019 effort was not a solitary flash of black metal brilliance. The Faustian Pact is full of Panzerfaust‘s signature atmosphere, all the while featuring more dynamics than we have heard before from these gents. Chapter I is going to be hard to beat, but we can see here that Panzerfaust have a very good chance of doing just that. Highly recommended.

about
“The God who made iron grow did not need slaves."
A maniacal forge seeds the tempter and triangulates the sin, the madness and the fury. Where one abandons all hope. At a funeral for the sun; They will dement the divide. Into a world of sin, of shit - in schism - the man will seek the angel at the bottomless pit.
Vanquished ground,
From birth till rigor mortis,
The vultures damn the hive to the wreaking hole
Descension bound,
Where lust defines the order,
Till the mass grave that sends the defeated man to the madhouse.
And a testament to his ruin;
Absent the fruits of patient toil
He will never lick the wounds
[Like] a disease that heightens the senses
In a world of sin, of shit - but in schism -
One gets harder in time.
And if destruction be our lot, be it the glory of the slaves.
Vanquished ground,
From birth till rigor mortis,
The vultures damn the hive to the wreaking hole
Descension bound,
Where lust defines the order,
Voidward shines the suns of perdition.
Yetzer Hara - Yetzer Hara - Yetzer Hara
Victor or vanquished,
What defines loss?
Twisted in irony;
Encroaching manifest destiny.
The sick divine glory,
[In] infinitesimal trappings
Weaponize the ages.
The Faustian pact is all that the ground may give back. And bound by it's own gaze, was lost and all that the sun made was cast on their iron graves.

The album description mentions an “emotional apex.” That’s really the difference between Stare and the band’s previous albums. Ulcerate was always supremely technically proficient. I just didn’t care all that much. Their growth has come from making music you will feel. Metallurgical Fire

Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end. sachavonkarl74
Featuring members of Noothgrush, Graves at Sea, and more, the Oakland metal band juxtapose cavernous doom with spaced-out shoegaze. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 21, 2024

The atmosphere of this album is fantastic. Makes you feel like you're knee-deep in the trenches drenched in mud, filth, sweat, and blood. Truly encapsulates the horrors of World War I, and the fact that the lyrics of some of the songs are taken from old war letters really adds to the authenticity.
